The legendary Raffles Hotel was established in 1887, and was declared a National Monument by the Singapore Government in 1987

 

 In 1989, the hotel was closed for two years for a complete restoration, and reopened its doors in 1991 to continue to attract travelers from near and far.

Most of the buildings have been restored to their former glory.

Singapore Botanic Garden -

Singapore History Museum -
The rich heritage of the island is presented here through trends and developments leading to modern-day Singapore. The history of Singapore is told through 20 dioramas, William Farquhar's collection of drawings, a Perabakan house, Fort Canning, Tiger Balm King's decorative carvings and a secret society lodge. The museum is housed in a grand colonial building topped by a giant silver dome which was built in 1887.

Fort Canning Park -
Built by the British between 1895 and 1861 as an arms store barracks and hospital. The hill is sacred to the Malays because this is where early Malay rulers were laid to rest. This is also where Sir Stamford Raffles built his own bungalow, Singapore's first Government House.

Sentosa Island -
This island is Singapore's best known amusement park, which was transformed from a military area in 1972. Attractions found on the island include a village featuring Asian food, arts and crafts and architectures, a butterfly and insert museum, a water adventure ride, a wax museum, an underwater aquarium, an Orchid garden, and a 37 m high Merlion.

The Night Safari, opened in 1994, is the world's first and only night zoo which provide a rare opportunity to see nocturnal animals in their active state.
